Yang Lihua (Peng Pai News Lidong Pai)
Yang Lihua, professor in the Department of Philosophy in Beijing. In recent years, the history of philosophy, Confucianism, Taoism and Taoism have been studied by Song Ming Philosophy and Wei Yan Philosophy. He has written “American Book and Deification: A Discussion on Zhang Xiu Philosophy” (2008), “Research on Guo Xiang’s Notes on Zhuangzi” (2010), “Fifteen Lectures on Song and Ming Neo-Ming” (2015), “One Book and Life: The Essence of the One-Origin of the Nation” (2018), and has translated “Zhang Xuesheng’s Life and Thoughts” (2007), “Research on Wang Bi’s Notes on Laozi” (2008), etc.
This year, Yang Lihua’s new work “Fifteen Lectures on Chinese Philosophy” was published by the Beijing Major Book Company. “Shanghai Book Review” interviewed Yang Lihua in Beijing and asked him to discuss Chinese philosophy and Chinese philosophy history.
“Fifteen Lectures on Chinese Philosophy”, written by Yang Lihua, Beijing Major Bookstore, published in March 2019, 318 pages, 52.00 yuan
“Shanghai Book Review”: The subtitles of each lecture are a combination of a person’s name and “philosophy”. Why do you think the thoughts of these ancestors are called “philosophical”? When middle school was named “philosophical” according to Eastern methods, what does it mean to be philosophical? Do you think there is only one philosophy, or multiple?
Yang Lihua:Because the name “Philosophy” is translated, so we formed a very strange statement: deny Chinese philosophy. The problem I am concerned about is whether there is such a philosophical thinking and a high philosophical thinking in our Chinese civilization, rather than which specific form to balance it. Similarly, “science” is the translation of “science”, and “physics” is the translation of “physics”. If it is just a translation, we will briefly summarize what we do not have. This is the laziness of thinking. In fact, there is no unified philosophy in the Eastern tradition. The analytical philosophy of the past few decades and the emphasis on that unique philosophy is not recognized by students in the philosophical world. It uses language misuse to cancel the most basic philosophical problems and turn everything into language analysis, which is equivalent to canceling the philosophical itself. In addition, some spiritual research that is now based on the complete concept of physically philosophical not proven in science actually misunderstood the traditions of philosophy.
I have tried these years to teach philosophy a definition: the emotional and systematic thinking about the most basic problems of world life. If some people think that it will definitely not be as good as this definitive philosophy, then we don’t want it to be too rude. But I am persistent in the name of philosophy because we have emphasized the origin of Chinese civilization. In other words, the principles of our civilization have their own original thoughts as the basis, which is the key point. What we are fighting against is a civilization-level problem. In this meaning, it is impossible to reduce it to thinking. The connotation of thinking is too broad and the form is too many, and there are all eras. Tomorrow, a third-rate scholar will also have some thoughts – but this does not constitute philosophy. So I emphasize Chinese philosophy in all areas, which is also the goal of finding and seeking Chinese philosophy since its inception.
Shanghai Book Review: “One Book and Life: The Essentials of the One-Agenda of the Proverbs” and “Fifteen Lectures of Chinese Philosophy” Although there are differences in the situation – the former is a “systemic theory”, and the latter is a manuscript of fifteen philosophers – but in the purpose of the whole book, there are many differences in the intentions of people, the creation of the continuous life of Confucianism as a rational career method, and the content, especially in the Taoist departments of the two Songs. You said that “A Book and Life” is both philosophical and philosophical history, while “Fifteen Lectures” is a reflection of the philosophical system, not a philosophical history writing in general historical meaning. Can you talk about these two books, as well as the relationship between philosophy and history of philosophy, Chinese philosophy and Chinese philosophy?
“One Book and Life: The Essentials of the One-Year Discussion”, Career·Reading·New Knowledge Three Links Store, released in March 2018, 208 pages, 40.00 yuan
Yang Lihua:It can be said that “Fifteen Lectures on Chinese Philosophy” can be presented at most The resources of the system of “One Book and Life: The Problem of the One Ordinary Discussion”. The fifteen people I listed in the body are all the resources of “One Book and Life”, which can be independently constructed as long as a large number of teaching content, especially the thoughts of Sengzhao, who had a great influence on me. Therefore, “Fifteen Lectures” is almost the whole of my philosophy, and I am in “One The experiment of systematic thinking in the Book and Life is to carry forward the thoughts of these philosophers presented in the “Fifteen Lectures”, which is the reproduction or exploration of their proof.
The relationship between philosophical history and philosophy, I think I can understand so much: philosophical history is the manifestation of philosophical sensibility in a specific era. Therefore, I think all philosophical abilities are the strength of all philosophical sensibility, or It is said that the strength of every generation of philosophy is actually philosophical history. It is not only the manifestation of philosophical sensibility in this era, but also the continuation of the generalized thinking of fools before. Philosophy must have a broad side, and of course philosophers must have a contemporary nature. This is my attitude towards the relationship between philosophy and philosophical history. “Fifteen Lectures of Chinese Philosophy” as a collection of retellings, which presents the My Chinese philosophical landscape and the outlook of my systematic thinking, of course, for the latter, there is Eastern philosophy, but I don’t talk about it, I include it in my dialogue relationship.
The next book I am writing is related to “Zangzi”. My design is to write philosophy in a complete way using the method of philosophical history, which is equivalent to “One Book and Life” 》: “A Book and Life” uses a philosophical and systematic method, which actually writes the history of philosophy. The new book about “Zangzi” will completely study the philosophical thoughts according to the form of philosophical history, but it wears philosophical thinking.
“Shanghai Book Review”: “Fifteen Lectures on Chinese Philosophy” has two clear lines of Confucianism and Taoism, but In other words, this is a book about Confucianism and Taoism. Legalism, Mohism, famous scholars, religions, or as contrasts to the landscape, or as opposing others, appear very rarely. When talking about Wang Bi and Guo Xiang, you will point out that they are “communicating Confucianism and Taoism” and “transcending the school”. Why is “Chinese Philosophy” “represented” by Confucianism and Taoism?
Yang Lihua:At a certain level, this is a common understanding in the academic world. Many former students have held this view, just like Teacher Yu Dunkang, saying that Chinese civilization is the mutual complementation of Confucianism and Taoism. Then the teachings have advanced, but for the Chineseization of the teachings, I think it follows the two goals of Confucianism and Taoism of the teachings. For example, the sect isLao Zhu’s teachings were very influenced by “Zhangzi”. So I think that Confucianism and Taoism are not only inherent thinking in China and abroad, but also more clearly present the ideological foundation of this civilization.
As for other schools, they are basically between Confucianism and Taoism. The Mohist school is an exception. In fact, there are only two schools that truly constitute the pre-Qin school – Confucianism and Mohist school. Taoism is not a school of thought. It is a gathering of philosophers near the mind and purpos
